What do membership dues go toward?
SDLEO Wives membership dues go to support our efforts as a resource for our San Diego County law enforcement wives and their respective families. Our goal is to be able to provide that in a multitude of ways, including donations to families in our organization, crisis support to our members and their families, education for new law enforcement officers and their spouses, retirement support, and much more! The overall goal is, if our members have a need, we can provide support to help meet that need.
Is SDLEO Wives a 501(c)3 non-profit organization?
Not yet! We are in the process of applying for 501(c)3 status.
Who can be a member?
Any wife of a San Diego County law enforcement officer can apply for SDLEO Wives group membership. Agencies include all San Diego city and county agencies. At this time, we cannot include any state or federal agencies.
All member requests are verified by our membership team thoroughly to maintain the integrity of our organization. For specific membership questions, please contact membership@sdleowives.org.
Am I automatically a member of the organization if I belong to the private Facebook group?
No. Though we disseminate information to fellow wives via the Facebook group, official membership in SDLEO Wives is optional to women who qualify based on our membership application. Our hope is that this website eventually becomes the main vehicle for communication and resources among local law enforcement wives, but we understand some may prefer the convenience of social media and opt to stick with just the Facebook group.
Can I become a member if I am not engaged or married to a law enforcement officer?
We hope to offer civilian memberships in the future for those wanting to support. Meanwhile, we welcome other forms of support by way of donations or volunteer efforts.
How do I join the Facebook group?
The SDLEO Wives Facebook group is a closed, “hidden” group open by invitation only to ensure the privacy of members. If you are interested in joining the group and do not know someone in the group who can invite you, please send us a message at sdleowives@gmail.com and an admin will get you added. We will most likely need to friend-request you first. Three security questions are asked prior to approval.
